How IMITREX Works

When you are prescribed IMITREX, you are getting, or will get, a medicine specifically designed to relieve all of the multiple symptoms associated with migraine including:

IMITREX was created by GlaxoSmithKline specifically to treat migraines. IMITREX is believed to target the nerves and blood vessels that can trigger the throbbing pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound. Of course, IMITREX works anytime during a migraine. But when taken at the beginning of migraine pain, it may be more effective without causing drowsiness.

IMITREX (sumatriptan succinate) Tablets

For migraine sufferers who prefer the ease and convenience of a tablet, IMITREX is available in 25-mg, 50-mg, and 100-mg doses.
IMITREX Tablets contain sumatriptan succinate, a medicine created specifically for the treatment of migraine. So IMITREX can relieve more than the head pain of migraine -- it also relieves the nausea and other symptoms, like sensitivity to light and sound, that often accompany migraine.

When You Should Take IMITREX.

IMITREX is to be taken at the onset of migraine pain. But, if you can’t take it then, you should know that IMITREX is just as effective at any time -- even if you take it when your migraine is at its worst. In addition, IMITREX is not a narcotic or barbiturate. In most people IMITREX does not cause the unpleasant side effect of drowsiness. The most frequently seen side effect is tingling. (5% with 50-mg tablets versus 2% for placebo)
