Cyclobenzaprine Generic Flexeril

Cyclobenzaprine Prices

Cyclobenzaprine is a generic muscle relaxant for the treatment of muscle spasms. Cyclobenzaprine is the generic of Flexeril, which is a more expensive branded form of Cyclobenzaprine.

Cyclobenzaprine HCl is a white, crystalline tricyclic amine salt with the empirical formula C20H21N·HCl and a molecular weight of 311.9. It has a melting point of 217°C, and a pKa of 8.47 at 25° C. Cyclobenzaprine is freely soluble in water and alcohol, sparingly soluble in isopropanol, and insoluble in hydrocarbon solvents. If aqueous solutions are made alkaline, the free base separates. Cyclobenzaprine HCl is designated chemically as 3-(5H-dibenzo[a,d] cyclohepten-5-ylidene)-N, N-dimethyl-1-propanamine hydrochloride.

Cyclobenzaprine HCl is supplied as 10 mg tablets for oral administration. Inactive Ingredients: Hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, iron oxide, lactose, magnesium stearate, starch, and titanium dioxide.

Cyclobenzaprine is a systemic Skeletal Muscle Relaxant

Skeletal muscle relaxants are used to relax certain muscles in the body and to relieve the stiffness, pain, and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, or other injury to muscles. But, these medicines do not take the place of rest, exercise or physical therapy, or other treatment that a doctor may recommend.

Skeletal muscle relaxants act in the central nervous system to produce their muscle relaxant effects. Their actions in the CNS may also produce some of their side effects.

Cyclobenzaprine Precautions:

If you will be taking Cyclobenzaprine for a long time, your doctor should check your progress at regular visits.

Cyclobenzaprine will add to the effects of alcohol and other CNS depressants. Do not drink alcoholic beverages, and check with your doctor before taking any other CNS depressants, while you are using Cyclobenzaprine.

Skeletal muscle relaxants such as Cyclobenzaprine may cause blurred vision or clumsiness or unsteadiness in some people. They may also cause some people to feel drowsy, dizzy, light-headed, faint, or less alert than they are normally. Make sure you know how you react to Cyclobenzaprine before you drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are dizzy or are not alert, well-coordinated, and able to see well.
